Trust and quality

Buying vintage and antique jewellery can be quite the challenge when you’re not an expert. I’ll be the first to admit that I have been scammed when I once was just a collector. A piece of onyx turned out to be black glass. I felt like such an idiot!

I made it one of my life purposes to save you this kind of trouble. No one should feel embarrassed, just because you trusted the wrong person.

That’s why I work together with a skilled goldsmith with over 20 years of experience. She checks, repairs and cleans the jewellery before it enters my boutique.

All of the set gemstones in the jewellery are researched by an experienced gemmologist with over 20 years of experience as well. After a thorough inspection in his laboratory, he makes sure every gem comes with a professional report.

I’m currently a gemmology student myself (Gem-A, Netherlands Gem Laboratory) and love to tell you all about nature’s treasures.

Golden family history

The love for quality jewellery and gemstones is part of my dna. Over a century ago, people were drawn to the beautiful windows of ‘Van Zweeden gold, watches and silver’. A highly respected and well-known boutique owned by my great-grandfather.

In the heart of Goes, a picturesque city in the province of Zeeland, you could find this skilled goldsmith and watchmaker. One of my uncles still has his signet ring with initials.

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. My grandfather, son of a goldsmith and watchmaker, was a keen collector of gemstones. Every now and then he explored mountains to find gemstones. Every visit to my grandfather was an experience. His house was such a sight for sour eyes. A proper Wunderkammer jam-packed with quirky antiques and his own paintings.

I cherish the little piece of pyrite he once gave me. A tiny gold-coloured mineral also known as fool’s gold. He mined it during one of his adventurous trips across the country border.

The love for jewellery runs in the family. My parents are the most generous people I know and have always surprised me with thoughtful gifts. Little edelweiss earrings remind me of our lovely summer holidays in Austria. When I moved to Belgium as a student, a big silver Dutch button ring was gifted. A not so subtle reminder of my roots. 😉

Now it’s up to me to spread this contagious love and passion for jewellery!
