Antique red coral bracelet with golden clasp
In a small town in Zeeland – that’s where I grew up – I’ve found this stunning bracelet with a golden clasp. It’s more than 100 years old and has been worn for decades by the very same owner. Apparently, it has always stayed in Zeeland. Can’t blame the previous caretaker of the bracelet. I really think it is one of the most gorgeous areas in the Netherlands. Of course, being born and bred there, I’m a bit biased. 😉
Although red coral is used in many traditional Dutch dress, for me it is undeniably connected to Zeeland. From research in the laboratory we do know that it is in fact authentic and untreated red coral.
The bracelet is also checked by my local goldsmith. She has hand knotted the bracelet again to make sure it again will last for a very long time.
Antique: 1900 – 1910
