SOLD – Eye-shaped Art Deco diamond ring
This ring is a typical late and very festive 1920s Art Deco ring. Is has a satisfying geometric design and contains titanium on top to make the diamonds really stand out. Is it just me or does it look like a blinking eye?
Art Deco refers to the early years of the 20th century. The future was unknown, but the Great War was finally over. With the return of peace and prosperity it was time to celebrate!
Art Deco is named after the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts which was held in 1925 in the heart of Paris. The exhibition opened in all its glitter and glory and with a not so hidden agenda. For France it was time to show the world that their taste would once again lead the way. Just as French artists and craftsmen had set the standards since Louis XIV his reign, postwar Paris dazzled international visitors with all things fashionable. Yes, it was unmistakably the French capital that set the style for jewellery and it was soon copied around the globe.
