SOLD – Oval 1920s diamond art deco ring

The roaring twenties: such a long time ago and yet so familiar to us all. A century ago, we were dancing the Charleston, women were allowed to vote for the first time, the tomb of the Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamen was discovered, many women had their hair cut into a bob like Coco Chanel and in international politics it was a period of peaceful alliances.

Art deco is very much part of these roaring, exciting 1920s. Most jewellery produced between 1920 and 1935 was made from 10K or 18K gold, white gold or platinum. The jewellery is symmetrical with geometrical shapes and has an industrial feel. There’s often very fine filigree ornamentation around the gems.

This ring consists of seven small diamonds that look as if they have been plaited between the filigree. Despite the size and design of this ring, it’s comfortable to wear. It’s a good choice for an everyday ring!
